Spinning Man, Sleeping Man, Very, Very Tired Man
When I was younger, I tried keeping a daily journal; never with much success. But when I run across them and read what my younger self was up to, I find them to be very important and dear to me.
Facebook and blogging have taken the place of my journals, for both better and for worse.
My Facebook posts have helped me keep track of where I've been, which is no easy thing these days given how spread out and scattered my life has become.
I have been complaining about being tired for the last year or so. I know several things I should do about it but have been reluctant to implement them.
Ditching the List
50 in 50 was never going to happen. Revising it and making exceptions have not helped. So I am crossing the list off the list and taking a burden of myself and my family. I'll still have goals and I am sure that I will still accomplish many of the things on said list, but I have to start being a bit more realistic about my situation.
I went to Burning Man for the sixth year in a row. That was #33 on the 50 in 50 list....Moving on.....
It was very difficult. I don't know how much I could have or would have done differently. But there are several things that come to mind. Scaling back and being more realistic as to what was attainable would have been a smart thing to do. Learning to delegate better would have been wise. Not trying to incorporate a move across the country would have taken some pressure off.
Oh silly me.
I took too many bikes out to Burning Man and didn't ride as much as I wanted to on any of them, except my trusty NOLA cruiser.
Someone attempted to ride the "backwards" bike and somehow managed to completly
mess it up, making it even more unrideable than it was intended to be. Finding it mangled and a mess put me in a very horrible mood which helped earn me the moniker of grumpopotumus which I lived up to.
I hope to get in some quality bike time in while here in Mammoth Lakes.
As well as getting laundry done, dealing with my "stuff", donating some of it, recycling some, trashing some, possibly "storing" some.
That's it for now.
Much more to follow....
Jon Danniells is an adventurer and traveler, a teacher and student, a husband and a father, a cook and a farmer, a "week-end warrior" (very amateur athlete) and has not earned any money on these labors of love. When I googled myself what showed up first was my IMDB listing, which is basically a resume for my 20 and then some year career in film, for which I fortunately do get paid.
