Tattoos Are Addictive ![]() OK; I must admit that there is no scientific proof that they are, however there have been several studies (seriously) that have shown that like Lays potato chips, it's hard to stop at just one. I didn't want to jump on the band wagon back when Jonny Depp inked "Winona Forever" on his arm. He's since altered it to " Wino Forever", so I decided instead to brand myself. 24 year old logic.... A few years later, I did get a Celtic band around my arm and then another tattoo on my shoulder, a "Kanji" that reads persevere/Never Give Up (which I had a Japanese friend who was well versed the form draw up for me) on my calf. And then there's the collection of tats on my right calf in honor of all the marathons and Ultra's I've ran, around a dozen at this point. I've got some pirate Jolly Rogers and a pair across my chest; the first in Latin translates to "Misery Loves Company", followed below by "I am the company misery loves" And of course I can't forget my "anarchy" tattoo or my personal Jolly Roger of sorts of three swords encircling a flame. Then there's the fairly extensive pirate ship on my thigh. I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two or more. Yep, I've got a bit more than a few. Recent Additions![]() What's In a Name? I earned my "Playa name", a name reserved to use at Burning Man , a couple of years back, because of my sometimes extreme behavior. I ran the 50k race out there that year, so I'm sure that helped out, as did my penchant for rum. I ended up getting hooked on Hunter S. Thompson as I decided to do some research on the words origin and usage. Definition of gonzo
Persistence of Memory
Mine is waning, however that wasn't the impetus behind inking Dali's art on my wrist. I have always worn a watch. But lately, I've found myself looking at my smart phone instead of my wrist. And I'm old school as it were. Wrist watches are going the way of pocket watches that they replaced. But I've always loved Dali and that image is one of my favorites.

I think that people have a negative perception regarding tattoos here in my town. Personally, I have nothing against having tattoos, but that does not seem to be the case for my neighbors. I often hear them judging people for having tattoos, and it really disturbs me. Why can't we all just enjoy life and allow everyone to enjoy theirs. I am not trying to be a nice person, I just want to end all of the shaming that is happening.
